there's always a first time for everything , so they say

And in this case, not in a good way. 

I had such a good Tuesday. I came home from B's house at 7am and wasn't even tired at all. Took care of the kids, Skype with friends and so on. Nothing abnormal. Until I was moving this picture frame I had taken out couple of days before. I didn't need it so I wanted to put it back in my closet. Nicely I grabbed it, but the back of it was not properly attached and so the glass part came out and landed straight on my toe. Well, it doesn't sound bad until I say, yes, it landed the sharp edge first and after I had a hole even in my sock I was wearing. Imagine what kind of damage it made to my toe. A HOLE !! God.

I called my host dad, who happens to be an emergency physician at Vail Valley Medical Center, and he finally called me back saying he'd take a look when he got home. So that happened, and the first thing that came out of his mouth was: "Oh Kaisa, this is not good." THANKS hey. Anyway, he took the phone and called his foot and ankle expert at the hospital but he wasn't working anymore. So I had to leave this morning to Frisco to go see him. I drove there, filled out thousand papers stating my name, DOB and insurance information. 

Decision: SURGERY for Friday. Jeez. Well here we go then, my first ever surgery. I made it through the winter skiing without any injuries and now this because of a piece of glass. Odds for this anyone? Just my luck so to say. Tomorrow morning I should know when I need to be at the hospital in the morning on Friday. I already got some antibiotics and pain killers for after surgery. And a funny shoe for my foot. 

My host dad luckily could fix me so that he cleaned out my blood pool and stitched me up with couple of stitches. It was definitely interesting, on the kitchen table!! My kids were all too curious but at the same time they almost threw up :D

THE HOLE !

At the doctor's appointment today, I got all this. A t-shirt stating Vail Summit Orthopaedics, some antiseptic body wash, pain killers and antibiotics, and a huge envelope full of stuff for my surgery: fill in papers, info for payment, and everything you can only think of.

Here we go then ! Good luck for me, don't wait to hear from me before I clear out of the meds and the pain. So let's say next week. I'm thinking about going out on Friday night though but it solely depends on how I feel after resting all day. I wanna see my new friend J.
